"...you made my world stand still
and in that stillness there was a freedom I never felt before."
Sarah McLachlan

Magic is important to this world, and many creative people share magic with us through their art. In this way, they inspire us to be enchanting ourselves, starting a chain reaction of Beauty. How often have you found yourself staring at a piece of art, or caught up in some song, unaware of the world busily going on around you? Unfortunately, for most people, these times are rare, and easily chased away. We speak of the 'magic of childhood' or the 'glamour of Hollywood,' but these things fade as if they are delicate as snowflakes, and mundanity is the glaring sun. It is only for some people, we say. Not me. Of our children, we encourage flights of fancy, but as they grow we kill it by forcing them to 'face reality.'

But 'reality' is 100% subjective, and what one person views as a waste of time, another can be fascinated for hours by. In American society, the glamourous are applauded and punished. They are set apart. Envied for their embodyment of beauty. And we are secretly, and not so secretly, glad when they fall into the pits of 'reality' where the rest of us live day after plodding day.

We still seek it, though. Why? I think the majority of us don't feel we are worthy of a constant flow of magic through our lives. We couldn't be more wrong. We dream, and say 'someday...' but then fill our lives with meaningless things, and watch the magic in our children, and movies. We can only handle so much of it, so we turn off the movie, put it away, and send our children to 'grow up.'

What we need to do is stop focusing on the people who live the magic, and look to the magic itself, then find the reflection of that in our own lives. Its there, and although appearing wispy and sparkly, its made of the strongest stuff around. It is love in its purest form. When you see someone doing something they truly love to do, are you not inspired to do the same? Not what they are doing, but to do something you love?

This web page is my sharing of the people places and things that inspire me. It acts as both a collective thank you, and a guidepost for others to find a bit of the magic themselves. Perhaps my sharing of these enchanting things and people will help you find a bit of that magic to enrich your life. I hope so. They have inspired my spirit to do many things, and some of these things I will also be sharing. And please, if you know of anything not listed here, share with me.

Ever Enchanted,
Ahme-da
